Cape Town Property
Cape Town forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality and has the second larget populous behind Johannesburg. It is the provincial capital of the Western Cape, as houses many of the Government departments. Cape Town is famous for its harbour as well as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is Africa's most popular destination for tourism.
Table Mountain forms a dramatic backdrop to the City Bowl, with its plateau over 1,000 m (3,300 ft) high; it is surrounded by near-vertical cliffs, Devil's Peak and Lion's Head.
Climate
The Cape Peninsula has well-defined seasons. The winter months are cool, with an average minimum temperature of 7 °C (45 °F) and an average maximum of around 17 °C (63 °C). Most of the city's annual rainfall occurs in wintertime. Summer, which lasts from November to March, is warm and dry. The Peninsula gets frequent strong winds from the south-east. Summer temperatures are mild, with an average maximum of 26 °C (79 °F).
Economy
Cape Town is the economic centre of the Western Cape Province, South Africa's second main economic centre and even Africa's second or third main economic hub city. It also has the primary harbour and airport in the Western Cape. Cape Town hosts many conferences, particularly in the recently-expanded Cape Town International Convention Centre, which opened in June 2003. At the moment, Cape Town contains more high rise buildings than South Africa's biggest city metropolitan, Johannesburg.
Tourism
Cape Town is Africa's main tourist destination even overtaking Cairo. This is due to its good climate, natural setting, and well-developed infrastructure. Reaching the top of Table Mountain can be achieved either by hiking up, or by taking the Table Mountain Cableway. Cape Point is recognised as the dramatic headland at the end of the Cape Peninsula. It is possible to either drive or hike up Signal Hill for closer views of the City Bowl and Table Mountain.
Education
Cape Town is served by three public universities: the University of Cape Town (UCT), the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). Stellenbosch University, while not in the city itself, is 50 kilometres from the City Bowl and has additional campuses, such as the Tygerberg Faculty of Health Sciences and the Bellville Business Park closer to the City.
