GARY PLAYER'S HORSE STUD FARM IN RIETFONTEIN WITH TOP QUALITY INFRASTRUCTURE - 1431,35 HECTARES
We are privileged to offer a very special exclusive mandate - The Gary Player Stud Farm designed by well known architect Phillip Watermeyer - is presently home to some of South Africa's finest thoroughbreds and is consistently amongst the leading breeders on the National Breeders List.
Providing The Perfect Environment For Mares And Foals...
The farm is near Colesberg in the heart of the great Karoo; the stomping ground of world record equine athletes since 1883. The farm is regarded as the most fertile source of lucerne (alfalfa hay) with over 300 acres of pasture under irrigation.
Near record rainfall in the early part of the new millennium has created a veritable Garden of Eden where the old paddocks are now grazed by a wide range of indigenous animals including springbok, blesbok, mountain reed buck, white tailed wildebeest etc.
Gary Player acquired the farm in 1974. His personal involvement with the stud and winning philosophy have set the standard for the team of dedicated professional managers and the stock that they raise.
The choice of the estate near Colesberg has proved to be a master stroke. The quality of its breeding stock has become acknowledged by the increasingly selective and sophisticated South African and international thoroughbred market.
Natural Karoo veld is renowned for its rich trace elements and high calcium content, ideal for growing strong boned and resilient athletes. With several hundred acres of mixed pasture under irrigation, the Gary Player Stud is ideal for breeding thoroughbreds.
The extreme climate is perfect for breeding racehorses - The cold kills off parasites and the warmth is essential for proper growth.
