Golf
The Ernie Els designed golf course is unlike any other course in South Africa, offering a technically superior golfing experience amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. A combination of native grasses in out-of-play areas and a fescue blend in the maintained areas will be used to provide an emerald green playing surface all year round. The winter contrast between the green of the playing surface and the brown of the highveld grasses in the surrounding areas is particularly dramatic.

The character of the two nines of the course are be very different, with the 1st nine mainly situated on the upper plateau of the estate, winding through the villages and providing views of the Steenkampsberg escarpment. The 2nd nine has large elevation changes, with the course making its way into and out of the Kareekraal river valley that bisects the property.
Trout Fishing
There is limited trout fishing but there is a possibility of a very large dam being built away from the golf course that would throw a whole new complexion on the fishing experience. In addition to the existing weirs in the river, more weirs are to be constructed and the watercourses cleared of alien vegetation to enhance the fishing experience.

Eco Estate
The estate has a network of eco-trails that take advantage of the natural beauty for walking, running, mountain-biking and horse riding use. They will be well marked and also offer the chance to get a sighting of cranes or Bald Ibis.

Levies:
There is a monthly levy payable from transfer of R 969.00 inclusive of VAT. Rates are currently R969.00 per month. Water usage at this point is free of charge but at some point individual stand owners will be charged for excessive water usage, if that should occur.
Electricity is payable via an individual meter system.

Security:
There is a very stringent process of registration of all stand owners and other authorized personnel to control access to the Estate. Authorized people will have access discs/ cards
The gate is manned 24 hours a day. Only registered domestic workers will be given access.
Non-resident Club members/ golfers will not be allowed access to any internal residential areas.

HOMEOWNERS BASIC RULES AND REGULATIONS
-Dogs are allowed but not more than two per household and they must not be allowed to wander outside the owners property. They must have a collar and identifying tag and must be kept on a leash when on common ground.
-No other pets at all may be kept on the Estate, with the exception of caged birds but only with written permission from the Association. Aviaries are not allowed
-Domestic workers may not live on the Estate and must be registered with the Security via the Association. They must wear the Highland Gate uniform at all times, for security purpose
-No caravans or boats will be allowed onto the Estate
-Only battery operated golf carts unless written permission is obtained
-No quad bikes, motor bikes or similar vehicles will be allowed
-Helicopters may only land on the designated helipad, and only with written permission
-No business or trade may be conducted from a dwelling unless with written permission from the Association
-Only indigenous plants may be included in the garden and all noxious flora and alien weeds must be removed.
