In keeping with the well-established tradition of excellence for Grade 10 to 12, Abbotts College, Northcliff, was the first Gauteng campus of this esteemed school, which first opened its doors in Cape Town in 1971.

The Northcliff campus proudly represents the progressive systems developed under the Abbotts College name. These systems use the potential of every, individual student to help them to achieve their ultimate best results in a happy, open environment conducive to the highest standard of learning. The needs and talents of each student is identified and nurtured by carefully-selected teachers, experienced in and adept at addressing students’ academic needs. These teachers teach in small classes, are available for consultation after hours, and provide teaching clinics and extra lessons. Students also have supervised homework in the afternoons; all of which form part of the comprehensive programme on offer at Abbotts College, Northcliff. During school hours, students are taught pivotal study and exam skills that will stand them in good stead for the whole of their academic careers.

Parents are involved in the schooling of their children at Abbotts College, and receive eight full report cards a year, as well as meetings with teachers. A fundamental element of the Abbotts College system is the creation of the best opportunities for all of its students, across a broad range of subjects, and taking their personal aspirations into account.

The Student Representative Council presents leadership opportunities to its members, while Grade 10s and 11s go on a leadership camp that establishes a rapport between every student and his or her peers, as well as endows them with vital life skills. The life skills and cultural programmes complement class time, as do the numerous outings and excursions across the full range of subjects. A further extension of the classroom experience is the rich extra-mural calendar. Social, sporting and cultural activities are arranged upon discussion with students, giving them an avid enthusiasm for all of their undertakings, and contributing to their development as balanced individuals.

Particular attention is paid to career guidance within the Abbotts structure, and career clinics give all students information, experience and advice that will help them in their professional lives. Abbotts College, Northcliff, has taken the enrichment of students to heart with the provision of top opportunities and facilities within the school structure to give them the greatest chance in every respective field.

As such, the school has modern classrooms, and top class computer centres and science labs. Information Technology is nurtured within the school as being paramount in the current working world.
