Anthony Whatmore and Company is a well established law firm offering a personal approach to legal services.  Founded by Anthony Whatmore, a specialist conveyancer and property lawyer with over 25 years legal experience, the firm prides itself on a client focused approach where every client is treated as the only client.

The company opened for business in 1997 and, when he established the practice, Anthony recognized that clients were often cornered into choosing between the personal attention but lack of diversity of a small practice, or the wider scope but more impersonal approach of a larger firm of lawyers.  Anthony Whatmore and Company offers the best of both worlds.

Property Law

The conveyancing department is headed up by Property Law Specialist, Anthony Whatmore who is assisted by fellow Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public, Kerry Forbes.  This department is supported by a team of dedicated and highly qualified staff members and together the team has earned a well deserved reputation for providing high quality and efficient conveyancing services to its clients.

This department deals with sectional title developments, share block schemes, time share, registration of conventional and sectional transfer, the registration of conventional and sectional bonds, notarial bonds, servitudes, township conveyancing and the drawing of property related agreements.

Excellent service levels and the building of sound client relationships have always been at the core of our business.  However, in our quest to speed up the efficiency at which the property transactions are processed, we have now embraced the latest leading edge technology that allows buyers, sellers and estate agents to track their transaction via our website.

Furthermore, Anthony Whatmore and Company are technologically equipped to link with financial institutions such as ABSA, Nedbank, Standard Bank and First National Bank as well as a direct link to the Deeds Registry with access to the broad base of information recorded there.

Litigation & Collections

Our Litigation Department is headed by Tyron Hussey who is a specialist litigation lawyer.  The Collections & Debt Recovery Department is headed by Leanne de Cerff.   These departments have the resources to provide creative legal solutions to client’s problems and are capable of delivering superior level of service which include litigation in the High and Magistrate Court, both civil and criminal, building disputes, insolvency as well as the collection of debts and asset recovery.

 

Trusts, Estates and Wills

Our specialized Trustee department is headed by Anthony Whatmore assisted by Ilse Laatz, undertakes the drafting of Wills, winding up and administration of deceased estates, formation of intervivos trusts, administration of testamentary trusts and general estate planning.  We would be happy to peruse your existing Will for you, at no charge, in order to ascertain its suitability and validity.  We’d also be happy to meet with you to discuss your specific requirements, any concerns you may have or to advise on Asset Protection and Estate Planning in general.

Commercial

Both Anthony Whatmore and Kerry Forbes are involved with the drafting of commercial agreements, formations of companies and offer solutions to any corporate or commercial needs clients have.

Notarial

Kerry Forbes is able to assist clients with the full spectrum of Notarial requirements such as Antenuptial Contracts, Notarial Bonds and authentication of documents.
