Korsten & Beukes Attorneys ("K&B") was formed at the beginning of 2012 when 2 directors of Korsten and Gys Louw Inc. (“KGL”) attorneys, John Henry Korsten and Derius Beukes saw the opportunity to combine their skills and resources to enhance service delivery and better meet their clients' specific legal requirements.

Commercial and Business Law:

We offer in-depth experience across a range of sectors, combining legal expertise, corporate governance skill and market knowledge and  with a thorough understanding of our clients’ businesses and personal needs. We are skilled in areas such as partnership agreements, formation of companies and trusts, trade agreements, movable lease transactions, franchising agreements, sale of business agreements, etc.

Property Law and Conveyancing:

The K&B team comprises of two highly experienced contractual and conveyancing attorneys.  Our conveyancers have between them more than 25 years of experience in property transfers, bond registrations and bond cancellations. Henry and Derius were involved with firms which served on the residential and commercial attorney panels of all four major banks in South Africa.

We provide specialized legal advice in all aspects of commercial and residential property transactions. This includes property sales, property developments, property finance, leases, the opening of Township and Sectional Title Registers, transfers of properties, the registration of mortgage and notarial bonds. Our client base includes banks, corporations, estate agencies, property developers and private homeowners.

Insolvency Law and Business Rescue:

K&B has a dedicated Insolvency Law and Business Rescue department. We assist individuals and small to medium enterprises who are struggling to meet their financial obligations as and when it become due in finding a tailor made solution to best solve their needs. Our experience within this sector also include working with creditors that need their interest protected from debtors whilst in an insolvent position.

Labour Law:

The dynamic nature of the South African labour market means that Labour Law has become increasingly intricate and complicated. We offer comprehensive, progressive and innovative advice in this legal minefield. Our legal experts can advise on a wide range of employment issues relating to employment contracts, grievances and disciplinary procedures, substantive and procedural fairness, collective bargaining issues, dismissals, strikes and lockouts and procedures relating to the Labour Court and CCMA.

Estate Planning and Administration:

Estate Planning is integral to a family’s well-being and the implications of not planning before death could affect the financial security of dependants and other family members after death. K&B has highly trained and experienced lawyers and paralegals that are specialists in this area. In addition to estate planning, we also handle the administration of deceased estates and the administration of trusts (testamentary or inter vivos).

Civil and Commercial Litigation:

Our litigating department works together with clients to identify and execute the most advantageous business-oriented solutions, either by pursuing or defending arbitration, litigation proceedings or alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation. Our lawyers operate in many spheres including partnership disputes, construction, property and building disputes and estates disputes.

Family Law:

At K&B we assist and provide clients with legal advice and service relating to family law matters which include Rights of Minor children and Maintenance issues, Drafting and Registration of Ante nuptial Agreements, Matrimonial Property Regime and Divorce


John Henry Korsten – BA. LLB. LLM (Labour Law).

Admitted to the High Court of South Africa in 1999, Henry brings a vast amount of experience to K&B and covers a number of portfolios requiring specialist legal knowledge including Labour Law, Commercial Litigation, Collections, Commercial / Corporate Law and Local Government Laws and Processes. Henry is also an admitted conveyancer and served as a Director of Potgieter, Ndabambi, Fourie and Korsten Inc. t/a PNF Attorneys from 2000 until 2009 and Korsten, Gys Louw Inc t/a KGL Attorneys from 2009 until 2011.

Derius Beukes – LLB.

Derius qualified as an attorney, conveyancer and notary in 2002. He is in control of our Conveyancing department and in addition to the requirements of managing and supervising this department specializes in sectional title schemes and property developments.
