Van Rensburg Koen Baloyi

During 2005, the firms of Werner van Rensburg and Liezel Koen merged and Jimmy Baloyi was appointed as the third partner in the new firm known as Van Rensburg, Koen & Baloyi Attorneys. (Jimmy Baloyi subsequently resigned in February 2009.)  Being individuals who distinguished themselves in their respective fields, they now boast a young, dynamic firm of attorneys that provides an even more comprehensive service to a combined clientele.

Team: WERNER VAN RENSBURG Attorney & conveyancer (PARTNER)

Werner completed his BA and BProc degrees at the University of Stellenbosch and UNISA respectively and attended the Legal School during 1996.  He was appointed as candidate attorney at the firm Hurly & Kukkuk Inc in 1997 and subsequently became professional assistant at the same firm in 1998.  In April 1999 he started Werner van Rensburg Attorneys and successfully completed a course in conveyancing as well as the AIPSA course in insolvency. In addition thereto Werner was admitted as Conveyancer during 2008.

LIEZEL KOEN  Notary & Conveyancer  (PARTNER)

Liezel obtained a BComLLB degree at the University of Pretoria in 1993, after which she was employed by the Surgeon General as a legal advisor for four years, specialising in medical, humanitarian and contract law.  She was subsequently appointed as candidate attorney at Aaron Stanger & Associates and then at Ilona Delanotte Attorneys. During 1998 Liezel served as a legal advisor at SASOL (Pty) Ltd and was admitted as Notary and Conveyancer. She later joined Ludik & Booysen Attorneys to head up their conveyancing department.  During her time there she was offered a partnership but elected to commence her own practice under Liezel Koen Attorneys.

MELANIE HEUSCHEN  Litigation, Estates & Conveyancing

Melanie was Werner van Rensburg’s litigation secretary at the firm Hurly & Kukkuk Inc.  During 2001 she was employed at Adams & Adams Attorneys before joining Werner at his previous firm at the end of 2001.  She is the senior litigation, estates and general legal secretary and holds an Executive Legal Assistant Diploma.  She also completed her conveyancing secretarial course during the first quarter of 2006 and has subsequently been working as a litigation and conveyancing secretary at our firm.

MERCIA MAKKINK  Litigation & Conveyancing

Mercia was employed by Werner van Rensburg Attorneys since April 1999, where she distinguished herself as an excellent litigation secretary.  She has also attended the following formal training courses: General Management and Administration,  Registration of Companies and Close Corporations (at the Registrar’s offices), Conveyancing and  Estates (at Master’s offices). Since 2003 Mercia has been attending to both litigation and conveyancing work at our firm.

JANINE HARRIS – Receptionist

Janine joined Van Rensburg Koen & Baloyi in 2013 as a receptionist and is tasked with facilitating communication between the firm and its clients. Her organizational skills are employed to assist the rest of the team in achieving their objectives.

PATIENCE BADZE – Conveyancing

Patience has 13 years’ experience as a legal secretary and now specializes in conveyancing. Patience was appointed by our firm in 2007 and holds an Executive Secretarial Diploma. Prior to her appointment at our firm she was a conveyancing secretary at Botha Farrel Arttorneys.


Nester started working in the legal field in 1996 where she attended to both litigation and conveyancing matters. She was employed as conveyancing secretary at Botha Farrell Attorneys in 2005 and she joined our firm as a conveyancing secretary in 2007. Nester has 11 years experience as a conveyancing secretary and holds a National Diploma in Conveyancing Practice.

Our Services: 

Transfers are normally registered within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of receipt of instruction, while mortgage bonds are registered within 2 to 4 weeks.  Our success in this area is achieved through exceptional client service that focuses on expediting the finalisation of every transaction.  For instance, we prefer to take documents directly to clients for signature in order to avoid any undue delays.
