Property buyers are increasingly being drawn to suburbs like Calypso Beach on the Cape West Coast due to the great selection of homes and enviable lifestyle.

Langebaan is Cape Town’s most popular weekend and holiday bolt hole and many Capetonians own property, but it is also very popular with buyers and investors from across the country, says Jaco Coetzee, an agent with Seeff Langebaan.

Aside from weekend, holiday and retirement buyers, Langebaan has also become a popular commuter town for people working in Saldanha, Vredenburg and surrounds and even some who work in Cape Town.

The popularity of Langebaan lies in its close proximity to the city, under an hour and a half’s drive and on a Friday afternoon or over long weekends and school holidays, you can be sure there is a constant stream of cars out of the city enroute to Langebaan via the R27.

Coetzee says that the local property market has experienced three successive excellent years with the last year’s property transactions topping the 700-unit mark and generating value of almost R870 million. This was very much on par with the 2016 year and represent a 40% improvement in activity over the last five years.

Part of the attraction of the village, is its exclusive developments such as the luxury Calypso Beach Estate with its private beach and 24/7 security and patrols. Calypso Beach is one of the only traditional breeding areas of the black oystercatcher. It is located next to Mykonos with its hotel and casino and holiday apartments and popular restaurants.

Langebaan

The estate is a real gem for buyers and offers direct beach access, a luxury seaside lifestyle and excellent property investment prospects. The estate enjoyed a very good 2016 and 2017 with sales activity more than doubling over the last five years. There are approximately 342 plots of around 350-500sqm, priced from just R550,000 to R4.2m. Houses sell from R2.1m to R8.9m.

Coetzee says there is currently an opportunity to invest in a luxury plot and plan option for R5.4m which includes a spacious 445sqm three-storey architectural home complete with its own (optional) direct access lift from the three-car garage which serves all three floors.
