Located in a beautiful setting, with sweeping views of the cane fields of Umhlanga Ridge, Umhlanga College is a school that retains its country ambience amidst the finest, modern facilities.

Committed to the discovery and cultivation of your child’s potential, from pre-primary through to senior primary, Umhlanga College provides a supreme basis upon which children can approach the future. The culture of excellence fostered within the College is achieved by the underlying passion of the staff body in their students. The ultimate full development and realisation of the learners’ potential is attained through the highest standard of education, together with social commitment and knowledge. The success of the College can also be attributed to talented and dedicated teachers, small classes and state of the art facilities. In addition to this, specialist teachers in the various subjects allow students to benefit from their knowledge, expertise and fervour. Umhlanga College also has some of Kwa-Zulu Natal’s top speech and occupational therapists on site for remedial support.

The infrastructure of Umhlanga College enhances the academic and extra-curricular offerings of the school. Boasting an impressive open-air amphitheatre; media and audio-visual centre; science laboratory; cutting-edge IT centre; a design and technology centre, as well as music, art and drama rooms, your child will want for nothing in terms of modern availabilities and the skills that are synonymous with such. Evidence of the College as a top schooling environment for children can also be gleaned from classrooms with smart boards and air conditioners, magnificent quads and playgrounds, a heated swimming pool and an international-sized cricket oval.

Umhlanga College propounds the involvement of extra-curricular activities in the development of its learners by offering sporting and cultural activities that are sure to cater for every kind of talent and personality. In terms of sport, the College offers Playball, swimming, hockey, cricket, soccer, netball, Pro Tennis Academy, Sharks Kids Rugby, athletics, golf, cross country, water polo, judo/karate, Equestrian Club and Lifesaving Club. Cultural activities include art, ballet, drama, music, choir, scrapbooking, beading, cooking, language club, chess club, outreach programmes and a number of fun and informative excursions.

Based on Christian principles, Umhlanga College prides itself on being inclusionary – embracing children of all cultures and religions, creating an integrated environment where learners develop knowledge and respect for the diversity of the community in terms of religion and ethnic groups and backgrounds. This is fostered, together with a firm sense of social responsibility through the school’s outreach programmes.

In particular, the College has launched a project with Blackburn School – an underprivileged school on the outskirts of Umhlanga. The College supplies stationery, sports equipment and additional school equipment, including blackboards, puzzles, exercise books, dress-up clothing, toys and books, as well as cleaning materials on an on-going basis to the school. The learners also engage in fundraising initiatives, such as LIV village, which provides care to orphans and needy children, whereby the children at Umhlanga College gain an inherent sense of involvement in the betterment of the lives of those less fortunate than themselves.
