Property Industry gathers to assess state of the market in SA

The Real Estate Industry Summit (REIS), one of the biggest property events in South Africa, hosted by Private Property in partnership with ABSA, will be held in Johannesburg on 27 October 2022.

Themed ‘Gearing for Growth’ as a response to the challenges and opportunities in the property sector, REIS will offer an insider’s look into current trends, provide the knowledge, success strategies, and other pertinent information required to navigate one of the country’s most established and volatile business sectors.

Carl Van den Berg, Businesses Development Executive at Private Property, says the industry has emerged from the Covid-19 crisis buoyant and stable.

“One of the hardest lessons learnt for our industry over the last two years is that nothing is guaranteed. The real estate industry was hit hard, but has done more than claw its way back, in fact, we are seeing a boom in certain areas along with many people investing back into their homes with aesthetic and practical upgrades making their homes more marketable to sell.”

Attendees will learn more about the available tools and innovation developments in this space to assist them with running their business’s seamlessly as well as setting them on a path for growth.

The summit will focus on:

  • Reviewing and exchanging relevant and actionable information, in-depth insights, and inspiration that attendees can instantly implement in order to improve and grow a property business or portfolio.
  • Discussions on hot topics presented by credible industry thought leaders from various property related sectors including banks, real estate companies and real active consumers in the property market.
  • Thought-provoking and holistic industry debates which will examine and expose contentious issues and challenges confronting the real estate industry in South Africa from a service provider, investor, seller, and buyer perspective.

  • Insights that matter with Hayley Ivins Downes (Head of Digital at Lightstone): Insights on market growth, volumes, and bonds, providing the data to grow businesses.

  • How the PPRA will play a role in the development of the South African Property Industry with Deli Nkambule (Acting CEO of PPRA).

  • Panel discussion unpacking the big issues of today and tomorrow around regulation and compliance within the industry with Deli Nkambule, Tony Clarke (Chairman of the Board at Real Estate Business Owners of SA) and Carlize Knoesen (Chief Registrar of Deeds)

  • Global Trends within the Prop Tech space with Gary Barker (CEO of PropTech, BetterHome Group) How estate agents are taking advantage of technology to enable their businesses globally.

  • Panel discussion on Business Models within Real Estate with Ricard Gray (CEO Harcourts) Andrew Thompson Managing broker (eXp South Africa) and Antonie Goosen (Managing Director and Principal of Meridian Realty).

REIS 2022 will be held on Thursday, 27 October 2022 at The Sandton Convention Centre from 9:00 – 17:30 before an evening of networking. The early bird tickets are available from R250 for general access, R450 for general access+ to the summit and to the post event networking cocktail party, and R750 for VIP which includes an additional catered lunch providing an additional networking opportunity for guests.
