Game Farm in St Francis Bay

R 7 500 000

Address: ongegunde vryheid
Land Area 292 ha

Nature Reserve. The 292 ha Thula Moya Nature Reserve Reserve, just 3km from the centre of St Francis Bay, offers a scenic and pristine natural landscape with unique ecological and archaeological features, making it ideal for eco-tourism and cultural heritage tourism, compatible with biodiversity conservation.

Price includes VAT.

Located just off the R330 provincial road, between Cape St Francis and St Francis Bay, with a small section (1.8 ha) on the east side of the road potentially a commercial property. The rest is on the west side of the road, in the final stages of being declared a private Nature Reserve, providing the highest category of conservation and legal protection available. This will also be endorsed on the title deed, binding on successors in title.

A small portion of the TMNR is demarcated to accommodate future developments compatible with conservation (such as tourism eco-lodge, etc.). See more below.

TMNR is a botanical paradise, featuring a dune landscape with a unique fynbos-thicket mosaic typical to the area, with an exceptional number of threatened/endemic flora species. Also a bird paradise, with about 150 bird species. Plus an abundance of naturally occurring wildlife: bushbuck, cape grysbok, blue duiker, common duiker, bushpig, aartvark, honey badger and caracal amongst the most common.

The reserve contains pristine St Francis Dune Thicket and a significant portion of headland bypass dunefields and its associated wetlands that is unique to this coastal area.

The reserve is situated on a large coastal headland which is the second southernmost point in Africa, bounded by the R330 road along its eastern boundary, by land owned by Eskom along its north, and by private land along its southern and western boundaries.

Although the TMNR was previously game fenced, only about 30% of the fencing remains between the property and the Eskom property.

It has a promising potential for eco-tourism, with unique and scenic landscape, and with tourism a strong socio-economic driver in the region with large numbers of tourists.

The property is an educational asset .. all ages and education levels can improve their understanding and appreciation of nature. It holds potential for research in biodiversity and conservation. Economic returns will flow from ventures compatible with biodiversity conservation (eg eco-lodge, nature-based recreation facilities etc).

It has the potential to support a range of nature-based recreation and eco-tourism opportunities (eg hiking, trail-running, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, cultural heritage tourism ). The solitude experience offered by the pristine natural landscape allows visitors to reconnect with nature on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

Existing borehole and easy access to Eskom electricity.
