With is variety of properties to choose from and close proximity to the freeway, the suburb of Atholl is home to socialite Edith Venter.

Among her many titles, Edith is an event and party-planner and motivational speaker.

Edith, who has lived in Atholl since 1998, says she loves her home which has a lovely garden she calls her private “park” with an abundance of birdlife.

I love this area because it is very established with beautiful trees and homeowners take great pride in their gardens and pavements

says Edith.

Born and bred in Johannesburg, Edith lived in London before returning to South Africa. In 1999, she traded in her social butterfly image and launched her business, Edith Venter Promotions.

She supports a number of charities that look after children, works closely with the SA Guide Dogs Association and is also the Patron of Women in Finance, spokesperson for osteoporosis and an honorary member of The Right Honorable League of Gentlemen, a combined networking and charity organisation.

“On a typical weekend, I will go for a 5km walk around Atholl. I love this as I get to enjoy the gardens and chatting to other walkers especially the ones who are taking their dogs for a walk – what fun!”

Edith says the Inanda Club is a great spot for breakfast or lunch thanks to its tranquillity enabling one to relax while savouring a good meal. Parkhurst is ideal for dining and shopping while Soweto is perfect for a truly South African experience and local cuisine, she says.

I am fortunate to live in the same road as the Inanda Club of which I am a member so I can enjoy all the club benefits
