280 ha Farm in Theunissen

This 280-ha farm provides an excellent opportunity for the astute farmer in need of irrigation land and grazing fields. The farm has two centre pivot irrigation systems, 65ha in total. Another 175ha can be utilized for natural grazing.

WATER

The farm has ample water supply with registered earth dams to store water on an area of 32ha, while the current capacity is roughly about 50 000 cubic meters. The farm has 68ha or 429400m registered water gravitating to large storage dams from the treatment plant.

LAND

Currently under irrigation is 34.5ha teff while 24.5ha is covered with lucerne. The soil is mainly turf with a high clay percentage while the grazing fields are mostly covered with Rooigras.

EQUIPMENT

One small pump house, a large SP125/400 Centrifugal Pump with a 75kW Electrical Motor, two Agrico pivots, namely a 5- and 4 tower system that can be irrigated simultaneously. The system is completely automated and is controlled by the Agrico application.

POTENTIAL

The farm has a 200KVa Eskom Transformer and is sufficient for the total development as well as potential future add. It provides a significant opportunity to expand into cattle farming as the remainder of the farm is natural grazing while the water usage rights include constant water supply from a local treatment plant.
