Zout van de Aarde/Salt of the Earth - It is assumed that the name was originally coined because of the disused salt pans situated at the entrance to the farm.

There is 3 hydroponic greenhouses, 2 have the capacity of around 4200 plants each, while the third has a capacity of 10 000 plants. The farm is 293 Ha, but only 20 ha are used for the cultivation of vegetables. The remaining hectares are mainly Fynbos and can be used for livestock farming like cattle, sheep or game. Water is sourced from 3 boreholes on the property. The irrigation scheme comprises a pump, filters, poli-propileen pipes and drip irrigation lines.

This farm is situated 24 km east of the town Riversdale and 11 km west of the town Albertinia, in the Garden Route of South Africa. The property is close to the N2-highway.
