 Win a Home 2017 launches

Win a Home, South Africa’s favourite interior design reality TV competition is back for a fourth season brought to you by Private Property.

Hosted by SABC3 talk show Afternoon Express viewers can watch Win a Home in its dedicated Friday timeslot between 4pm and 5pm starting in July 2017 and stand in line to win a beautiful cluster home at Eye of Africa Golf and Residential Estate to the value of R3 million.

This year Win a Home will double the reality, double the fun and double the drama with the introduction of Design Duos! Contestants will be competing in pairs for the title of the country’s best emerging interior designers. Three perfect pairings were chosen from amongst dozens of entries: couples, siblings, best friends and families – who entered for the chance to decorate three homes at the Eye of Africa luxury golf and residential estate, south of Johannesburg.

On 20 June 2017 Win a Home revealed the chosen Design Duos at a glamorous event at the Old School Deli, Eye of Africa. It was an opportunity for the estate’s residents to meet Afternoon Express hosts Jeannie D and Danilo Acquisto. With the competition’s previous winners and Win a Home partners in attendance, the who’s who of the Jozi design scene were there.

Three of the country’s top interior design magazine editors will be mentoring the three designer pairs. Annemarie Meintjes from VISI, Amanda Graham of Habitat magazine, and Tiaan Nagel from House and Leisure will be expertly guiding the contestants to create trendsetting homes. The contestants will also have the best products available at their fingertips. Plascon will be adding a splash of colour to the competition homes, and Caesarstone will supply their luxury engineered quartz surfaces.

The contestant Design Duos will be vying for two prizes. The first will be the Judges Choice Prize. The panel of expert judges will decide on a winning design duo who will receive a R100 000 cash prize. In addition, Win a Home viewers will once again be able to have their say, and vote online for their favourite pair and favourite design. The team with the most accumulated votes at the end of the competition will win R20 000. If the judges and viewers are in agreement this means that one design duo could win both prizes – a total of R120 000!

Win a Home spring-boarded the careers of the previous designer winners Donald Nxumalo (2014), Jacoline Sema (2015) and Rudolph Jordaan (2016) who have since made a big impact on the South African interior design industry.

However, it’s not just the Design Duos who stand a chance to win. One very lucky viewer will walk away with the Grand Prize of their choice of one of the three bedroom, two-bathroom cluster homes, as completed and decorated by the Design Duos at Eye of Africa, to the value of R3 million. Certainly, it’s a case of one Afternoon Express viewer's life changing forever!

This year Win a Home will be twice as nice, with Design Duos competing for the title of South Africa’s best emerging interior design talent.
