This week on Win a Home: The patio challenge

Things get a bit tricky on Win a Home this Friday at 19:30 on SABC3. The remaining design contestants must demonstrate their creativity by decorating the patio spaces. They will be judged on how practical their designs are, in a limited space, without windows or walls, and solely used for relaxation and admiring views. How will the designer decorate their balconies? Will we see the usual braai stands and wicker furniture? Or will the designers show the judges something fresh, unique and exciting? Tune in to find out.

This week, the designing teams are pleased with their budgets of R25 000 each. The problem, however, is the limited space of the actual patio, and only three days in which to complete everything. The designing contestants are in a major panic – specifically Team Blu Print. They must decorate their patio, and also complete in a ‘head to head’ individual challenge to determine who will be the last remaining finalist. Wanga and Sifiso must make a professional listing of their housing unit as their solo challenge task. They must take high res photos, write an in-depth description and create a virtual tour, all via the Private Property website. With only three days, how will they make a listing, and also decorate their balcony? Is it possible?

Tempers flare as the two best friends compete against one another in their individual challenge yet also have to work together to complete their balcony. Nobody wants to go home. Both Wanga and Sifiso desperately want to be in the top three, alongside finalists Jackie and Zimkita. Who will win the individual challenge? The title of Best Designer and the R100 000 prize is getting closer by the minute.

Joining the panel, as guest judge this week, is multi award winning interior designer, Maira Koutsadakis. She doesn’t mince her words and she’s very vocal on what works, and what doesn’t. She’s joined by Private Property CEO Simon Bray of and Anne Roselt, who is the colour expert of Plascon paints.

It’s not only the designers that win, on Win a Home. Viewers have until 1st November to enter Win a Home's Grand Prize competition, where they could win one of three incredible prizes. The third prize is R50 000 worth of high-end LG products. The second prize is the all new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. The first prize is a two bedroom home at Ilala Views in Durban, set within the prestigious Umhlanga Ridge area, and enjoying truly magnificent views.
