This Pecan Nut farm forms part of the Barberton valley and is situated in an active agricultural node dominated by macadamia farms but also citrus farms, sugar cane farms and other sub-tropical fruit farms on a smaller scale. 7980 Pecan nut trees planted in 2020 (7150 Ukalinga, 330 Sutex & 500 Cape Fear). Trees planted at a spacing of 8m X 6m.
The farm has 27Ha (178 200m) of registered water rights. The total orchards are 40Ha. With this the registered water works out at 4 455m per Ha. The available water is considered sufficient to irrigate all the orchards successfully. Water is pumped from the Queens River to a plastic lined holding dam (40m x 25m x 3m). At the dam is an equipped pump house from where water is pumped and reticulated to the orchards via a filter bank, main lines and micro irrigation. Age of trees now going just over a year old.
Buildings are an 160sqm outbuilding, a 101sqm lean-to with concrete floors and a 19sqm pump house at the dam.
