Bigger Cooperations in the Overberg area and other building suppliers are typical buyers on a monthly order basis (Farmer to Farmer)

1 000 m3 of yard stock, with different lengths and thickness poles, are always carried in stockpiles, ensuring correct moisture content

Treatment plant, CCA , SABS approved, Agricultural Industrial zoned, 2 200 m2

Monthly inspections are done (on farm with own identification mark on all product FB457)

100 kva Eskom point, with 100 kva Bundu standby generator (with automatic change over)

2 x Mobark pole peeling machines are utilized to debark poles according SABS standards, stacked for drying before CCA treatment

Local Farmers with theire own harvesting teams are contracted for pole supply to the pole manufacturing depot daily

These poles are delivered in bark and are paid for in m3

Pinus Pinaster Pine species forms the basis of these timber products, ensuring natural hard poles

Bark and shavings (Pine Nuggets / Shavings)

Bark as a byproduct are bagged and sold to nurseries

The sour content is very suitable for growing flowers like orchards

Tunnel farmimg, tomatoe''s, peppers, lettuce

Shavings are also bagged and are shipped off to existing horse owner contracts where these shavings are mainly used as stable bedding (Cape Peninsula, Swellendam)

The distribution and administration are handled by the CC Agulhas Biofuel and are registered in a separate entity, also included in the sale price.

Tea

20 HA of Honeybush tea have been established in blocks over the last 5 years

Hear the sound of the tea seeds popping, in harmony with the gentle rustle of the fynbos, while harvesting seeds for your next plantations (1kg of seed = 1 HA)

The cultivar CYCLOPIA GENISTOIDES was chosen, embedding a long lifespan, more than 20 years, proved very adaptable and sustainable to this area

The possibility of expanding the tea fields is made possible by already cleared fields that can be planted immediately, approximately 20 HA is available.

More land can be cleared and is well suitable

Production, 7 - 10 tons per hectare is possible

Obtaining the necessary relevant permissions, you could put up your own processing factory and brand the Bergplaas tea, in accordance with your own unique marketing program

Fynbos

The mountains, valleys and coast of the South- Western Cape are the natural habitat of the largest variety of plant species in the world

Indigenous Fynbos, is your gateway to a tranquil and a picturesque lifestyle and complements your surroundings on the farm

8 HA of planted fynbos can be found on the gentle slopes

50 HA indigenous, rehabilitated fynbos exists and has recently been cleared by cleaning teams

Kompaktus, Repens, Execimea, Longifolia, Albiflora are a few examples of the 7 500 different plant species that could be found in this area

Flowers are harvested throughout the year and demand specifies which type and species are required

The export of flowers carries huge income potential and ensures a constant positive cashflow to the business monthly

There is more land available to expand the fynbos sector even further

Contractible Flower harvesting teams are available in the area

Water

There are no registered water rights on the farm, but there are no restrictions

Municipal water servitude is registered

Water treatment plant delivers clean water to more than 50 surrounding households down the valley

A Perennial River crosses all three properties and at its lowest in the dry season, it still delivers not less than 60 000 liters per hour

Water has been tested and was found suitable for bottling

A Centrifugal pump in a 30 000-liter steel tank is used to pump water from the river in pipelines to different locations on the farm

A natural underground aquifer has been confirmed by the WNNR, who also monitors this aquifer with various and different instruments

Firewood

Due to the abundance of alien wood species firwood are made and sold at various outlets direct to the public

Examples are black wattle, myrtle, bloekom, Hakia and Spider gum

Huge demand exists, and supply cannot keep track with demand.

Nursery

The expansion of the current nursery is also a viable business option

Seedlings are freely and naturally available

Peatmoss

The type of ground called peatmoss occurs naturally and are to four meters deep in certain areas

Peet is formed over hundreds of years through decaying plant materials

Biofuel / Wood chips in bulk supply

All wood grindings produced at the Quionrock sawmill site are transported in bulk with walking floor trailers to Malmesbury

600 tons are used per month by this plant

The wood grindings are used in the water boilers, producing electricity with a lower carbon footprint than coal

This results in lower tax costs payable to the government

More than 50 000 tons of dry wood is available to be turned into grindings, other enquiries from different companies are on the table for discussion and future business

More material is available in the surrounding forests
