Dainfern College: A World of Education

Catering for Grade 0 - 12, Dainfern College is a dynamic, pupil-centred, co-educational school. With an ethos encompassing values of respect, accountability, self-discipline, integrity, humanity and fortitude, the College creates an environment conducive to the highest standard of learning across all areas of life. This is complemented by a holistic education – developing learners socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically – as well as a Christian based ethos within the school and its community.

The junior preparatory, senior preparatory and high school at Dainfern College are all age-appropriate hubs of knowledge for students at these different stages of development. A team of dedicated teachers are committed to the fulfilment of each learner’s potential. In conjunction with a curriculum and an array of teaching methods that challenge learners, the school strives to help achieve each learner’s personal best through motivation and encouragement. The needs and talents of each pupil are addressed; enriching them with a sense of self-belief. At every level, there is a focus on preparation for the next. The ultimate goal is the development of responsible, capable adults the ultimate outcome.

All academic excellence is complemented by pastoral care, support on an academic and counselling basis, as well as a rich sporting and cultural extra-mural calendar and a number of social responsibility projects. All of these facilities are aimed at creating well-rounded individuals with a diverse range of skills that will infiltrate many aspects of their lives in the future.

The wide selection of sporting and cultural extra-mural activities on offer to the learners at Dainfern College develops important skills that learners can utilise on stage or the sports field, and in the classroom. As such, learners at all levels are encouraged to participate; and, with such variety, they are sure to find an activity that they will enjoy and that will hone in on their natural talents. There is something that will suit any personality, and challenge them to excel at all levels.

Outreach serves an important role in the Life Orientation and Leadership segments of each learner’s education. In particular, Dainfern College has three major outreach projects that they run. The first of these is Iterele Zinzele, whereby the College has formed a partnership with an underprivileged school. Offering academic support, the school has extended its assistance to the sponsorship of food packs for AIDS orphans and child-headed households. African Eagles is an upliftment through sport initiative, which aids boys from informal settlements in sports, academics and through the provision of food parcels. There is also a twin school project with Diepsloot West Primary for academic upliftment.
