Edenglen Primary School – Knowledge for Life

Edenglen Primary School in the heart of Johannesburg offers a caring learning environment, with an ethos that promotes high moral standards.

Intent on providing a happy atmosphere where learners can relate learning with fun, Edenglen Primary School offers challenges and support to all of its learners to guarantee academic success and understanding. The staff at the school are highly qualified and love what they do; they are attentive and run classrooms that are child-centred. This is made possible by the prevalence of small classes within the school – a setting that is wholly conducive to providing opportunities to each individual and guiding them to reach their full potential.

At Edenglen Primary School, the age groups are divided into Foundation and Intermediate Phase, focusing on meeting the academic needs of each group to provide them for the subsequent level of study. At Foundation Phase, there is a concentration on Literacy and Numeracy Skills, while the Intermediate Phase is when learners are given the opportunity to specialise across the range of subjects. An on-site team of therapists provide a valuable service within the school – countering any difficulties encountered in the educational process.

The school boasts the most modern Resource Centre that comprises a library, computer centre with 40 stations and an auditorium. This was designed by a past pupil and has won a prestigious architectural award and appeared in several architectural journals. This centre is conducive to optimal learning and stimulates the children to seek further knowledge in a most inviting environment.

The extra-mural calendar is busy at Edenglen. A wide range of activities are on offer to learners that will complement those skills that are promoted in the classroom and develop new and existing talents. These cover a number of sporting and cultural activities, and emphasis is placed on commitment and good sportsmanship in all of these undertakings. The school also offers a secure after care facility. Under the supervision of the staff at After Care, learners will receive a meal and mid-afternoon snack, transport to any extra-mural activities, homework supervision and fun gaming activities.
