Pecanwood College is an independent, combined school of excellence. The College provides outstanding facilities, qualified and dedicated teachers with passion and enthusiasm to fulfill the needs of each pupil in a sensitive, caring manner and a balanced program of academic, cultural, sporting and adventure pursuits. In this dynamic, happy learning environment, supported by a Christian-based value system, our learners will be able to achieve their full potential academically, physically, socially and spiritually to emerge as well balanced, productive individuals.
Both our Preparatory and College have a fully equipped Computer Centre. Our College has a fully equipped Science laboratory. Amongst others, our facilities include a 25m swimming pool, tennis & netball courts, cricket nets, hockey and rugby fields.
Pecanwood College has become the school of choice in the Hartbeespoort area. We began in 2005 with 60 pupils and now we currently have 560 pupils in our family. Our matric results have been exemplary and in 2010 we gained a 100% pass rate in the Independent Examination Board – an internationally recognised examination board that is written by the top Independent Schools in South Africa.
Our geographical position – 45 minutes from Johannesburg and Rustenburg, situated on the banks of Hartbeespoort Dam lends itself to healthy outdoor living. Many of the families that have joined us over the years have relocated from our neighbouring cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg to experience this quality way of living within easy reach of major cities – and have not gone back!
At Pecanwood College we do things differently and all our pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of cultural and sporting activities many of which take advantage of our beautiful surroundings. We are often found on the sports field enjoying healthy competition until the sun hits the mountains or our mountain bike club can be found riding through the many trails that back onto our College.
Even though we are a young school we have big plans! Our physical infrastructure has grown rapidly over our short history and we have other plans on the horizon ranging from, technology centres to music centres, astroturf’s to pavilions. Things never stand still at Pecanwood for long and it is a very exciting place to be. Our boarding hostel is under construction and doors open in January 2012. This is a very exciting step in the history of our school.
