The main source of income is derived from the slaughtering and processing of chickens. Live chickens are delivered to the abattoir by surrounding small scale chicken farmers where chickens are slaughtered, processed and packed to client specifications at a pre-determined fee. In addition, day old chickens are purchased, fed in the hatchery for 2 weeks, whereafter they are moved to 6 chicken houses until ready for slaughter. The 6 chicken houses can each accommodate approximately 1500 chickens at any given time.

The seller has built up an established client base of deli''s and smaller outlets delivering as far as Pretoria, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp and surrounding areas such as Vaalwater, Bela Bela, Modimolle and Mookgophong.

The abattoir is fully licensed. The current license allows 2000 chickens to be slaughtered every day. According to the owner, the current infrastructure can accommodate the slaughter of 5000 chickens per day, which offers great potential for expansion. The abattoir also caters for the slaughtering and processing of cattle, sheep and game as an additional income stream.
