Hazy River is a popular destination for holiday makers enroute to the Kruger National park, or as a stop over during there exploration of the Panoramic route. The foliage around the dam is green throughout the year and is always teaming with birdlife. I have personally recorded over 100 different species while on my visits there. There are also abundance of red duiker and nyala and on the odd occasion you can hear hippos making their familiar grunts somewhere in the dam.
