Peaceful in the South
The Johannesburg South Neighbourhood includes the suburbs of Bassonia, Glenvista, Lenasia, Oakdene, Winchester Hills and Mulbarton. Although the area is being developed fast, Johannesburg South still retains much of its natural beauty. With the endless hills disappearing into the horizon, and many exclusive wildlife estates, one might imagine being in a nature reserve. "The South", as it is most commonly referred to by the locals, is mainly divided into two main parts - the older part on the north side of the N12, and the newer part on the south of the highway. The people of "the South" are family-orientated and active.

It’s extremely scenic, we have good restaurants, we are very health conscious in the South, so have a lot of fitness facilities including gyms, a lot of clubs in terms of cycling clubs, running clubs, pilates and yoga clubs.
Thaba Ya Batswana – has to be one of the most beautiful spots in the south especially for tea or lunch on a Sunday afternoon
Golf is definitely one of the most popular activities at places like the Glenvista Country Club. Football clubs in this area and the surrounding areas are a huge craze in the sporting world. Health is also one of the main interests in this area, and there are a lot of clubs and facilities available for health and fitness.
Families in the area can enjoy a day out at Golf Reef City or one of the many malls in the area. The Apartheid Museum, dedicated to illustrating apartheid and South African history can be found nearby.
Golf is one of the most popular activities, but football clubs are also a big craze. The older part of the south has klip-style houses, while the newer parts feature some really modern high-end family homes.
