Estate agents who service Waterkloof Glen discuss the merits of living in the area.

What types of properties are typically available in Waterkloof Glen?

As the older generation move out of the area to retirement villages, young families are moving into older properties as houses are spacious and larger with established gardens for children to play in. There is a high demand for properties in boomed off areas. Parts of Waterkloof Glen are high on the hill, so many properties have stunning views over the east of Pretoria and a house with a view is always popular. Owners are spending millions on upgrading homes and there is a general upliftment of the area. With the Menlyn Maine development, jobs will be created resulting in higher demand for properties in this neighbourhood.

How has Waterkloof Glen changed in the past five years?

Home prices have steadily grown over the past five years and you can now expect to pay around R950,000 for a two-bedroom townhouse, while a four- to five-bedroom house costs anything from R2,8m to R3,5m. Current buyers are in the 36 to 50 year old age group, whereas sellers are in the golden years looking to down-size or move to retirement villages. Waterkloof Glen has both high and low residential homes with middle to high income households. Homes are mostly large, family-styled houses on big stands with leafy gardens, although there are a number of townhouses as well.

What attracts buyers to Waterkloof Glen?

Waterkloof Glen has become increasingly popular because of the development of Menlyn Maine which will become a central entertainment hub of the city. The properties are spacious and most homes have big luscious gardens. The area is proving to be an ideal destination for nature lovers with close access to Groenkloof Nature Reserve, Rietvlei Nature Reserve and the Pretoria National Botanical Garden. Waterkloof Glen provides convenient access to Kloof Mediclinic hospital, Hoërskool Waterkloof and Laerskool Elarduspark.
