About the area

Newlands, an established family suburb centrally located next to the N1 highway, south-east of Pretoria city, provides a pleasant lifestyle for its friendly residents with great schools, entertainment and medical facilities. The suburb falls between Garsfontein Road in the north, Anthony Street in the south, Matroosberg Road to the west and Corobay Avenue to the east with streets meandering uphill and downhill, shaded by large trees.

Properties in the area include large houses, modern apartments, office parks and retirement villages, so you don’t need to move far to scale up or down or travel to work. The Lynnwood Sector 3 Community Policing Forum assists with crime prevention and liaises closely with SAPS Brooklyn, arranging patrols, creating close communication among neighbours and educating residents on emergencies.

Newlands is located near premiere shopping facilities like Menlyn Park, Newlands, Castle Walk, and The Club shopping centres with a number of car dealerships such as McCarthy Volkswagen Menlyn and Hyundai Menlyn close by. The suburb is also situated near Menlyn Maine, Africa’s first green city, which aims to be the new city centre.

There are a number of great restaurants near Newlands including Ocean Basket, Good Times Cafe, Life Grand Cafe and Protea Hotel Fire and Ice Restaurant. As well as other types of entertainment like movie theatres, paintball, pilates, karate and beauty salons.

Among the top schools in the area are Pro Arte Alphen Park, Hatfield Christian School, The Glen High School and Pipsqueaks Pre-Primary School and After Care. Medical professionals at Cure Day Clinics Erasmuskloof, a health-care facility for specialised day surgery, and Mediclinic Kloof, a private hospital, will keep you in good health delivering quality health assistance.

Newlands provides a relaxed lifestyle among beautiful scenery and is a hub for excellent shopping, restaurant, social, school and health-care facilities. The suburb’s committed residents are actively involved in ensuring the area remains a peaceful, social and safe environment to set down roots.

Newlands has quality schools within a 2km radius, a variety of shopping malls where you can find everything from a pin to a racing car, and retirement villages so grandparents can be close to their grandchildren.
