Communications manager, Luvuyo Bangazi, tells us why he loves living in this Port Elizabeth neighbourhood.

Situated in the upmarket area of Lovemore Heights and boasting attractive sea views, Lovemore Heights Estate is fast becoming one of the most sought-after addresses in Port Elizabeth.

Lovemore Heights is lauded for its safety. This is especially true of Lovemore Heights Estate, which is what first drew Luvuyo Bangazi, marketing and communications manager, Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA), to the area in 2010. “The location and security of the area all pointed to the preservation of our investment. The neighbourhood is also very family-friendly. Young children roam around freely without fear of being knocked over by a speedster,” he says.

A proud father of two daughters, aged nine and four, Luvuyo wanted a quiet place to raise his children. “I love our humble place because it stands out. It’s the smallest house in the estate, but it’s just perfect for our small family of four. My wife and I aren’t ostentatious people, so we’re pretty comfortable in our compact ‘pozzie’. The only noise you’ll hear is children playing outside with their pets or on bikes. Otherwise it’s fairly quiet, and that suits me,” he says.

Luvuyo initially moved to Port Elizabeth to attend university and has lived in the area ever since, starting out in the advertising industry before joining the MBDA. The Queenstown-born endurance athlete has his eyes set on Ironman glory, and says his neighbourhood is perfectly suited for training. “I live just off¬ the Ironman bike course, making it easy for me to get my training done without wasting time travelling.”

He says he’s seen Lovemore Heights become more racially integrated in recent years but has not seen any other major changes since he moved in. The suburb remains peaceful, pretty and family-oriented.

The estate has very strict building regulations. Fortunately, we bought our house complete and compliant.

Luvuyo’s favourite things about the area: - The kids’ play park near his home. - The quiet paved streets within the estate. - The fact that the Ironman bike course is close to his home.

Three things people might not know about the area (according to Luvuyo):

  • If you plan well, buying a home in Lovemore Heights can be simple.
  • It’s among the safest areas in PE.
  • The views of PE from the area’s hilly terrain are spectacular.

Dine out nearby:

  • Fish Finder: for great seafood
  • Mike’s Kitchen: for a family-friendly dining experience
  • Shanna’s Portuguese Restaurant: for amazing Portuguese food and prawns
