We caught up with the Win A Home Season 3 design contestants and find out what they will bring to the table during the next ten weeks.
Rudolph Jordaan is a freelance designer and part-time lecturer in Cape Town. The 28-year-old completed a Bachelors in Design in 2009 before enrolling for a BTech Interior Design degree in 2012 at CPUT.
So, Rudolph, why did you decide to enter Win A Home?
Rudolph: I needed a change of scenery and I was looking for a challenge!
What is the greatest thing about décor and design for you?
The diversity. Every individual and designer can express themselves through a variety of materials, colours and styles.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I come across inspiration everywhere I look. I find balance in nature. One needs to charge the senses and when you are outdoors you get inspired on a whole different level.
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
Japan. Their architecture is something I would love to experience and you can definitely learn something from the vast difference between the city and rural lifestyles.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Listen, and not just hear, what people have to say.
Do you have a motto that you live by?
When you learn to accept, instead of expect, you will have fewer disappointments.
What do you do in your spare time?
Try to catch up on lost sleep!
What is your favourite colour and why?
Shades of dark green. If I could, I would live in a forest or tropical area where I’m surrounded by plants and trees. I suppose to me it means that there is life, growth and a higher being.
What do you look forward to the most in this season of Win A Home?
To get to know more people in the industry and show South Africa my style.
