Situated in beautiful surroundings, Crawford Preparatory North Coast is in a convenient position on the M4 and N2 highways – midway between Umdloti and Ballito.
In keeping with the Crawford ethos of excellence, Crawford Preparatory has a focus on academics and an all-round education at this important level of study. As such, the highest standard of academic, sporting and cultural offerings are made available to its pupils. This takes place in an environment where there is a unique focus on the individual, where teachers can develop young minds and have the freedom to be creative.
Crawford Preparatory North Coast has a number of specialist departments and the facilities to ensure that every pupil derives maximum benefit from all of their lessons. This includes active art and drama departments, as well as a dance department with its own studio and professional teacher. The computer and technology departments each have their own rooms with modern equipment so pupils can familiarise themselves with these important areas. Zulu or French are offered as second language options.
Physical education is pronounced at Crawford Preparatory North Coast with a unique system of encouraging pupil participation and enthusiasm. The importance of an active lifestyle is entrenched from an early age, and team work and other fundamental life skills are developed during these classes. The Physical Education Department, including games lessons, allow for grades to select their choice of activity. The activities on offer include mountain biking, golf, tennis, tag-rugby, soccer, softball, cricket, netball, fitness and other codes.
The physical education lessons are reinforced by the extra-mural activities, which include many of the above with the addition of swimming, rugby, cross country, hockey, chess, Christian and Hindu Studies and a computer club. Many pupils from Crawford Preparatory, North Coast, have gone on to represent the province and the country in a number of sports.
The school also has an effective social responsibility programme in support of a number of causes. These include Easter egg collection to be distributed through ICARE; food collections for the SPCA; ‘slipper’ day in aid of the Reach for a Dream Foundation; Siyazama Creche; the Winter Warmth Campaign; the Dolphin Coast Run; Sunflower Fund; Santa’s Shoebox brings Christmas to a number of under-privileged homes and Movember Month for prostate cancer awareness.
