Parklands High School

Committed to the holistic education of its pupils, Parklands High School makes its valuable contribution to the nation in its dedication to the academic, moral and emotional development of its learners. Located two kilometres from Alberton City, the school is easily accessible – learners being dropped at the gates in the morning, and the taxi rank being only a short walk from the school in the afternoons. The Alberton Police Station is also a mere one kilometre away, which adds to the sense of security offered by the school.Parklands High School creates an environment conducive to the undertaking of excellence pursued by its learners in the development of the complete student. The success of their endeavours is evident in that many of the past pupils from Parklands have gone into the medical and auditing fields; both of which demand hard work and an untainted personality. In addition to these successes, the school is proud of its specialist Travel and Tourism departments that give learners hands-on skills and knowledge with unparalleled applicability beyond their school years. Many learners within the school have overcome adverse circumstances in order to engage in their academics – a telling indicator of the calibre of teaching and guidance within the school, as well as of the strong and tenacious personalities of the learners. Currently underway at the school is the building of a lapa for the educators, as well as the acquisition of more furniture to alleviate the shortages that have been experienced in the past. In the interests of allowing its learners full access to computers in order to acquire these vital skills, Parklands is also making progress in their efforts to establish another computer facility to complement the Gauteng Online Computer Centre presently available. Parklands also offer a host of extra-curricular activities including netball, soccer, arts and cultural activities. The school also boasts a formidable chess team, with a craving for competition, as well as a debating team that has featured quite prominently in the Ekurhuleni Municipality Competition every year in February, having been placed second in these competitions in the last two years. For a Virtual Tour of the school, follow this link.
