Technology and The Property Industry

This is an exciting time for technology in the property industry. Now more than ever before buyers, sellers and agents are looking for innovative ways to interact online. The improved access to connectivity and the social networking boom means more and more people see their laptop, tablet or smart phone as an extension of themselves, connecting them to friends, businesses and information. The smarter and more powerful these technologies get the less work and effort they require from us, making them a more natural part of our lives. It isn’t about technology becoming more present but more absent.

I have a similar take on the role of technology when it comes to complex transactions like those involved in the marketing and trading of property. With an unorthodox academic mix of engineering and marketing behind me I have taken to the world of software because I enjoy the process of turning tough problems into elegant solutions. Just sifting a big bag of requirements into an orderly set of buttons and links isn’t enough however, I think systems should have personality, something you and I can relate to. I have spent the past couple of years developing ground-breaking agency software to manage the signature to registration process for estate agents and in the process bringing them closer to their clients and attorneys. For me the most important evolution for software and Internet platforms is not adding more features and functions… how many of us really use all the options on our cell phones anyway? What is important, what we spend countless creative hours trying to achieve is a natural, intuitive and trusted experience for you, the user.

The talented team at Private Property share my passion for building great tech, squeezing the most out of every opportunity to improve an experience or create meaningful connections. As Justin Clarke put it “we are really about matching people to property”… we just happen to do it with one of the most powerful tools available, the internet.
