Rental agents across South Africa were honoured at the annual PayProp Awards, receiving awards for exceptional performance in platform use, portfolio growth and long-time tenure with the country’s largest processor of residential rental transactions.

Leading the proceedings was PayProp CEO Jan Davel, who began by singling out rental administrators who use PayProp on a daily basis as “the real heroes”. Davel dedicated the awards to this group based on their delivery speed, control, clarity and efficiency of their agencies' rental payments.

The second annual awards ceremony was hosted live on video conferencing platform Livestorm, attended by over 100 rental agency principals, administrators and special guests.

Who are the winners?

The most prestigious accolade of the day, the PayProp Pinnacle Award, crowned the agency with the most exceptional overall performance across all award categories. This award is based on the highest aggregate score across tenure, growth, processing volume and usage of the PayProp product ecosystem. For the second year in a row, this award went to Rawson Properties – Cape Metro Classic, based in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs. Congratulations once again to John Birkett and his team!

This year also saw the introduction of a new award, the PayProp Velocity Award, recognising exceptional overall growth during the last year – both in processing volumes and the use of products in the PayProp ecosystem. Davel called this winner a real “mover and shaker” who impressed the judges with their overall accelerated performance during PayProp’s latest financial year. This award went to RealNet Rainmaker.

Congratulations also go to all the other award winners, which include:

  • The PayProp Performance Award for exceptional growth in processing volume and number of tenancies on PayProp during the last three financial years: Awarded to Dormehl Phalane Property Group (Midrand).
  • The PayProp Performance Award for exceptional growth in processing volume and tenancies over the past financial year: Seeff Independent Agency.
  • The PayProp Processing Award for high processing volumes during the 2022 financial year.

    ○ In the independent category: SA Investor Rentals.

    ○ In the franchised category: Engel & Völkers, Potchefstroom.

  • The PayProp Power User Award in the Damage Deposit Managing Service category (for the rental agency with the highest total value of damage deposits on PayProp as a percentage of monthly processing volume over the last 3 years): Property Affair.

  • The PayProp Power User Award in the Property Account Managing Service category (recognising the highest total value of Property Account funds on PayProp, as a percentage of monthly processing volume over the last three years): MJT Investments.

  • The PayProp Power User Award for exceptional use of PayProp’s Tenant Assessment Report and credit check functionality, recognising the highest number of tenant assessments as a percentage of tenancies managed on PayProp over the last three years: Century 21 Sandton.
