The beach is the biggest attraction and locals flock the promenade to cycle, run, surf, swim, fish or just catch some sun. There are also incredibly lush parks and open spaces dotted around the neighbourhod for residents to take advantage of. The nightlife in Durban Central is exciting with numerous bars, pubs, restaurants and night clubs in close proximity to each other. As its name implies, Durban Central's location makes it convenient to get to any of the other areas around Durban.

The Golden Mile stretches from Ushaka to the Suncoast Casino Complex. Its broad promenades make it perfect for running, cycling, walking the dog or skateboarding. The warm waters, protected by lifeguards and shark nets, are popular for swimming and surfing.

Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban

The iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium was one of the host stadiums for the 2010 World Cup. It is close to the Kings Park Stadium which is home to the Sharks rugby franchise. Adjacent to the stadium is the Peoples Park, popular with families for its play area, cafe and sports fields. Other parks popular with parents are the Botanical Gardens, Bulwer Park and Mitchell park which also has a small zoo.
