You can also walk around the marina or take a moonlight stroll along the beach. The Boardwalk Shopping Centre is the biggest shopping centre in Richards Bay. There are cinemas, restaurants and bars, with over one hundred shops at this centre.
Over weekends a vibrant hum echoes the shores as all kinds of vessels take to the water, providing pleasant entertainment for those basking in the sun or relaxing in the cool shades of the Casuarina trees.
The Dolphin Viewing Platform is situated at the end of the North Breakwater Pier at Alkantstrand Beach, this specially erected platform allows visitors to view the Humpback Dolphins that frequent the Richards Bay coastlines. Shark-netted beaches at Alkantstrand provide ample opportunity for safe bathing, fishing and picnicking.
Thulazihleke Pan is popular in Richards Bay and is the paradise of bird lovers. More than 350 bird species are registered here, and there is an expansive net of hiking trails and protected hides for bird watching.
The local country club boasts an 18-hole championship golf course situated on the banks of Lake Mzingazi. The breathtaking scenery and unexpected visits from local hippos, crocodiles, monkeys and fish eagles complement this challenging course.
