Renowned South African professional golfer, Retief Goosen, or “The Goose” as he is more affectionately known by his fans, has placed his Zebula Country Club and Golf Estate home on the market for R7.5 million.

“The Zebula Country Club and Golf Estate is located on 1600 hectares of pristine bushveld in the shadow of the Waterberg Mountains. It is estate living within a unique bushveld setting with a variety of wildlife at your doorstep. Added to this is the 18-hole golf course, designed by Peter Matkovich, which has received a five-star golf experience award from Compleat Golfer Magazine since 2011. It is easy to see why people such as Retief Goosen have purchased property in the estate,” says Loua Boshoff, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Bushveld, who is currently marketing the property on behalf of Retief.

Boshoff says that as with all property purchases, location is an important aspect for buyers to consider as it has a major influence over appreciation. “An estate’s location also adds to the overall experience of living there. Zebula is located just two hours’ drive north of Johannesburg in the Limpopo Province.

The area boasts indigenous tree-covered hills, open grasslands, dams and waterholes, and of course, the views of the mountains. This unique location provides residents with a remote, out-of-town setting without being too far removed from a major metropolitan hub,” says Boshoff.

Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, Adrian Goslett, says that due to their security and lifestyle offering, estates are highly sought-after among buyers. “Security is a top priority for the majority of South African homebuyers, so combining security aspects with lifestyle features such as a golf course and the bushveld ensures an excellent return on investment over the long term,” he says.

According to Boshoff, Retief’s property is located approximately five kilometres from the Zebula Clubhouse in the second phase of the estate known as Morkels. Only 13 homes were built in this section of the estate providing residents with space and privacy. “Every effort has been made to ensure that residents can enjoy their tranquil bushveld surroundings within their own secluded space,” says Boshoff.

He adds that the property has a bush lodge set-up with a four-bedroom, four-bathroom main house and two self-catering cottages, each comprising of one bedroom, one bathroom, a lounge area and fire place. The outside area has walkways, which light up at night, connecting the main house and cottages to the garage and two car ports. The property also boasts a Lapa area with outside lounge and Jacuzzi.

A particularly special feature of the property is a tall wooden lookout tower for the occupants to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounds and spot game roaming in the area. “As with all other homes within the Zebula estate, the property has been designed and positioned so that it blends into the natural surroundings of the area.

It was crucial to the estate developers to maintain the integrity of the terrain and naturally combine the exclusive homes into the indigenous bush and landscape,” says Boshoff.

He says that only top-end finishes were used throughout the spacious main house. “The large open-plan lounge, raised dining-room, fully-fitted, contemporary kitchen, fully-equipped bar and in-house fire pit make the home perfect for entertaining guests.

For a change of pace, guests can also be accommodated at the outdoor dining area with built-in braai, when they are not engaged in a game of pool in the entertainment room.

The entire property has been thoughtfully laid out and is ideal for hosting big corporate groups or families, who will enjoy the bushveld experience in this one of a kind property,” Boshoff concludes.
