On Going Price Rises in Table View

A Rawson Table View agent, Laura-Lee van der Spuy, has now had 28 years of close association with the Cape Town West Coast suburb. Her parents moved to Yzerfontein when she was one year old and she lived in Yzerfontein for 20 years before finally transferring to Table View. Today she sells property there for the Rawson Property Group and, she says, her faith in the area is stronger now than ever before.

“Anyone perusing the sales figures of the 3,362 freehold and the 4,778 sectional title and estate homes in Table View cannot be unimpressed by the area’s ability to generate on-going price rises and to come through downturns less affected than most Cape Town suburbs,” says van der Spuy.

“Looking back and tracking the progress over the last nine to ten years made by typical two and three bedroom homes and sectional title units, it is clear that in that time period the freehold homes have increased from an average price of just under R600,000 to R1,4 million, while the sectional title units have risen in price from around R400,000 to just over R750,000. It has to be remembered that this has been achieved despite the 18 to 24 months of the 2009/2010 downturn period.”

Spurred on by the ‘always reasonable’ prices of the area, the good climate, good schools and excellent retail facilities, demand in Table View, says van der Spuy, has always been good.

“You have to appreciate that this is the ideal precinct for a young couple to get an initial foothold in the property market,” says van der Spuy, “and it looks as though, despite prices now rising at around 8% per annum, that this will remain true for a long time to come.”

“Table View,” says Daphney Klopper, the Rawson Property Group’s franchisee for Table View and co-franchisee of Rawson Parklands (a franchise she shares with Mike Abrahamse), “has proved to be one of the steadiest performers in the entire Cape residential sector. Its prices suit today’s buyers particularly well and it is one of the few areas where good price appreciation can be guaranteed.”
