Aliwal-North has one of the country''s most famous mineral springs, around which an attractive resort has been developed in the early19''s. The main spring delivers over 2 million litres of water per day at a temperature of 35 degrees Centigrade, while a second spring delivers over 1
million litres daily. Several large swimming-pools, one of which is enclosed, are fed by these springs and there are also private baths, a Turkish bath and a
massage centre. Unfortunately the whole resort / complex has become completely run down and derelict.
I had the privilege to live and work in Aliwal North for 17 years. I love the people, I love the town and I knew what the town down in
the 80''s and 90''s offered us. It saddened me to see how the town deteriorated since I left in August 1997. It went from a booming town into a town with a
heart sore brokenness in the streets and buildings.
HOWEVER, I really believe that there is someone out there, someone with a VISION, someone with a PASSION to uplift communities, to give
back to life what God gives him/her.
