1100ha Game Farm and Lodge within Mabalingwe Big 5 Game Reserve

LOCATION:

The farm is a one hour and forty minutes drive North of Pretoria in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, 25 kilometres from Bela Bela within the centre of Mabalingwe Big 5 Game Reserve. This property is also very close to Zebula and Elements Golf Reserve. The farm is situated on a road marked as a scenic route by the Limpopo Road Authority.

AREA:

The extent of the farm is 1100 hectares which forms part of the 9500 hectares open Mabalingwe Big 5 Game Reserve. All this is located within the Waterberg biosphere. Currently there are no fences between the Reserve and this farm which is home to all major plains game species including the Big 5. The Lions however are in a separate enclosure a short distance from this property. Guests can enjoy game drives on over large areas of the reserve or enjoy the elephants on the doorstep of your lodge. This 1100ha is a haven for wildlife with its endless unspoilt nature and views over the Springbokflats. Not only can you see the game in their natural habitat, you can experience them in the comfort of your own lodge!!...Elephants, Buffalo, Gnu, Zebra, Giraffe, Kuduetc.

DEVELOPMENTS:

Main Lodge:

This an Exclusive 4-star lodge with 8 chalets, an office, a laundry and staff quarters. Eacg Chalet is air-conditioned they are en-suite chalets. The rooms have private pergola covered patios and guests have a choice of either shower & bath, or shower only. Most rooms also feature a screened outdoor bush shower for that exhilarating ''Out of Africa'' experience!

All superior rooms include inside and outside shower, special bathroom amenities, bath robes and slippers.

This is a thatched roof Lodge with a central complex which is made up of an intimate lounge with a feature fireplace, a dining area, cocktail bar with a viewing deck overlooking the floodlit waterhole, a cozy open-air bush boma, an all-day tea & coffee refreshment station and a DSTV loft lounge. There is also a gift and curio boutique, a swimming pool with a large sundeck, a SPA and an elevated upper deck which offers stunning views across the plains.

There is a small corporate conferences or special events hall for up to 16 people.

Second Lodge:

This Lodge are is also known as the Owners House and it is a tranquil African home is situated at the foothill of the mountain affording it spectacular views over the Springbok Flats. It features spacious open plan living areas, 2 bedrooms, lush gardens, large outdoor entertainment areas with a pool and stunning views perfect for early morning coffee and evening sundowners.

The outbuildings consist of an office, a 1-bedroom cottage with an open plan lounge-kitchenette, storeroom / staff accommodation, walk in cold room/butchery, car port and Helipad. The property is on approximately 1 ha of land and is secured with electric fencing.

Additional features include:

- Swimming pool with a thatch roofed lapa for the summer months

The Second House Area:

The farm house or guest house is situated lower down on the flats and enjoys a mountain view. It features a kitchen, lounge, bar area, dinning room, 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a covered patio.

There is a 2-bedroom guest flatlet / workshop adjoining the side of the house and ranger accommodation situated just behind the house.

WATER:

There are 3 boreholes and water is supplied by the one very strong borehole which is pumped into a cement reservoir and gravity feed to all developments. There are several earth (soil) dams, plenty of game drinking points as well as a Catch and Release fishing dam.

ELECTRICITY AND WI FI:

The Property has Eskom. Some of the developments has inverter to keep the power on when the electricity is out. A special mast with repeaters has been erected on the property to provide high speed internet to all buildings and surrounding areas (high-speed 5 Mbps WIFI).

GAME:

All game on the whole Mabalingwe Big 5 Game Reserve that roams freely belong to management consortium and it is their responsibility to look after the well-being and controlling the numbers.

Free roaming game include: Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Sable, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Eland, Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Red Harte Beest, Blesbuck, Warthog, Bush pig, Mountain reedbuck, Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbok, Aardvark, Pangolin, Aardwolf, Leopard, Porcupine, Scrub hare, Mongoose, Jackal and Rock rabbit (dassie) etc.. Lions are kept in a large enclosure area.

GAME FENCE:

Mabalingwe is fully game fenced. There are a few areas that has game camps which is separately game fenced. This property has a fenced area round the main lodge as wel las the Second Lodge area. All game fencing is in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Nature Conservation.

TOPOGRAPHY:

This beautiful Game Farm consists of rolling topography including a 25% Mountain Area on its Northern boundary. The rest is sloping down to the Southern boundary and this is mostly flat areas. There are some Rocky outcrops creating elevated koppies with the most beautiful sceneries. There are good pastures which ensures a well-balanced bushveld farm. Mixed veld that varies from sandveld sour grazing to a red sand loam with limited sweet veld grazing. This is arguably one of the best farms in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
