Victoria West is a unique little Karoo town nestled between two beautiful Karoo koppies. The town was founded in 1855 and although relatively small, it has a long colourful history and is steeped in tradition and atmosphere. Today, it is a thriving Karoo town situated right on the crossing of the N12 and R63. Victoria West is proof that the so called platteland has a lot to offer. Several businesses have opened in recent years and the town hosts the annual Agri Expo Show, Karoo Golf Classic, the Wildsfees and can boast about the Apollo Theatre as one of the last functioning Art deco Theatres in the world.

Victoria West has some of the best guesthouses on the R63 Highlands Route and claims to be the GEATWAY TO THE GALAXY as the route includes Sutherland with SALT one of the worlds largest optical telescopes and Carnarvon with SKA, that will become the worlds largest radio telescope.
