Livestock farm for sale in the Nama Karoo region between Brandvlei and Van Wyksvlei.

This property of 8,822ha is near the R357 between Brandvlei (+- 70km) and Van Wyksvlei (60km). The property falls under the Hantam municipality and the Registration Division: FRASERBURG RD. The Nama Karoo occupies most of the interior of the western half of South Africa and extends into the southern interior of Namibia. The climate of the Nama Karoo is typically harsh. Droughts are common, and both seasonal and daily temperatures fluctuate considerably. The Nama-Karoo is a semi-arid inland biome in South Africa dominated by dwarf shrubs, with grasses, shrubs, geophytes, and herbs at varying levels of abundance. This area has its own fascination and characteristics.

The property of 8,822ha consists of 2 title deeds sold as 1 going concern. The farm is subdivided into 17 manageable camps, most of which have water access. The farm has 14 boreholes, with 6 boreholes currently in use (some are in the process of being repaired). An option is to extend the piping and utilize the working boreholes. The farm has a few natural water reservoirs where rainwater is captured and stored for an extended period. This area can then be utilized while the natural water holes have standing water and then moved again later to other areas of the farm. All fencing is in particularly good condition, with jackal-proofed electrical fencing on the perimeter of the farm. All inside fencing is stock proofed and in good repair. The farm has 1 neat sheep handling facility (kraal) at the homestead where most sheep work can be done. Smaller handling facilities are in different farm areas, but these need some maintenance and repair. Vegetation on the farm consists of shrubs and other grass types. Noticeable is the abundance of grass in a particular area on the western side of the farm. To the east, there are more shrubs visible. The farm was not grazed fully in the past few years, and the vegetation has recovered beautifully after the well-documented drought in the whole region. Clearly visible is the variety of thorny bush types stacked together. This is clearly a very good sheep production region. Rainfall in this area ranges between 150-200mm per annum. The LSU of the farm is 1:39, and around 800 sheep can be kept here for reproduction.

The homestead consists of an old house and shed. The sheep handling facility, water dam, and borehole are also close to the home. However, the house needs some renovation as it has been vacant for years.

The farm can be bought as a going concern if the buyer is a VAT vendor. The property can be used by someone looking to expand their farming activities or for someone looking to start up a new farming opportunity off the grid in central South Africa.
