Currently, 36.61 hectares are planted with pears which include varieties such as Forelle, Celina, and Peckham Triumph.
Farm buildings consist of 1 main dwelling, several staff cottages, a farm stall, an office, and a shed which is used as a workshop and storing of implements. All buildings are well maintained and in good repair.
Water is obtained from a Canal (124 077 m per annum), 3 boreholes with a capacity of 99 261 m per annum (9 926 m 9 926 m 79 409 m), runoff water 24 815 m and 3 dams with storing capacity of 65 000 m per annum (30 000 m 15 000 m 20 000 m).
The long-term average rainfall is 650 mm per annum. Winters are cold with periodic snow on the surrounding mountains that ensures good run-off water to fill dams and is necessary to help with the recharge of the boreholes, which form a vital part of irrigation. Cold winters are especially important for the accumulation of chilling units. Pears need to accumulate sufficient chilling units to grow in response to warmer temperatures.
