Ladismith is well known for its fruit, wine and lucerne production but due to new markets and demands, Ladismith has adapted and is becoming known as an area ideal for almond production due to its climate and deep, fertile soil.

This farm is situated near the Prinsrivier dam and lies in the shade of the Anysberg. The farm can be accessed off Route 62 from either Ladismith or Montagu.

The owner established the following orchards :

Non Pareil 1.5 Ha ( 5 years)

Non Pareil 2 Ha (third leave)

Non Pareil, Avijor & Viaro 1 ha (first leave)

Soletas 2.5 Ha ( 5 years)

Pecans 9Wichita) 2.8 Ha ( 8 years)

Another hectare is available to extend the orchards.

33% of the almond cultivars is self pollinators such as Avijor/Soleta

The pecan nut trees are the very popular Wichita cultivar with an exceptional yield. The pecan harvest is delivered to GWK in Douglas who has three intake and processing plants. GWK comes to collect the pecan nut harvest on the farm.

A map layout indicating planting of the respective cultivars is available. The orchards are fenced with electrified fencing keeping out all unwanted guests.

The farm has an allocation to receive water from the Prinsrivier Irrigation Board for 13.8 ha. Prinsrivier Irrigation Board is one of only a few Irrigation Boards that are not State owned. The orchards however are drip irrigated with water sourced from a borehole. A certificate is available.

The water from the Prinsrivier Irrigation Board is not currently utilized, although it is possible to build a small catchment dam.

About 18 ha is natural vegetation typical to the area. The Prins River runs through a portion of the farm where the land is more level with another piece that is steep an mountainous.

A recently built three-bedroom house with a stoep area accommodate the current family comfortably. A large thorn tree near the stoep creates a nice spot for a braai or play area for the kids.

Electricity is supplied by Escom by way of 25 KVA point.

A valuation Certificate dated 25 January 2022 is available.
